It’s never easy to win the hearts of fans when you’re not winning matches and Peter Wallace copped the brunt of it this season despite injury keeping him to just 13 appearances for the year.
PLAYER RATING: 6.5/10
Like the rest of the squad Wallace got the season off to a strong start, clearly a proper off-season with Jamie Soward had paid off and points were a commodity. Injury and age are a sour combination and it’s one that’s starting to cripple Wallace’s performance, though he hasn't lost his mantle as the toughest player to have ever existed (except maybe Craig Gower).
The effort is still there and the passion to win is the essence of the Wallace charm but with less and less game time the criticism launched at him will continue to exacerbates an already worrying problem – what will we do in the halves once Wallace retires?
He might have missed more than 10 games in 2015 but his presence off the field would’ve been invaluable to the waterfall of youth making their way into the NRL squad.
