Player Review: James Segeyaro

  • Player Review: James Segeyaro

He was one of the best hookers in the game in 2014 but we’re not too sure where that went this year for James Segeyaro despite there being more pressure on his position than ever before.

PLAYER RATING:               6/10

The excitement machine we’d grown accustomed to seemed to go into his shell this year when we needed him most. He was still in decent form and was reliable at worst but he’ll need to return to his best if he’s to keep youngster Katoa at bay for long.

Penalties conceded were down for James in this year but if that comes at the cost of points and line breaks then it’s hardly worth it. At points during the season James Segeyaro wouldn’t have been Penrith first choice hooker for many tipsters with Apisai Koroisau showing his wares.

He’ll be back in the driver’s seat for 80mins in 2016 and he’ll need to make the most of it if he wants it to stay that way.
