David Simmons is the kind of player you love to have at a club. He never does anything wrong on or off the field, you can rely on him, he’s got experience to lead the youth (which we really needed this year) and he’s one of the most professional and effective wingers in the competition.
Well, he was.
PLAYER RATING: 8/10
2015 was his last season in the NRL despite showing some impressive form. Simmons picked up some neat milestone this year, including a match-clinching four-try haul against the Wests Tigers mid-year and racking up his 200th match in the NRL.
It might be a bit punny to say that Simmons was the saviour of Penrith at stages this year, but he really was. When the backline crumbled to injury and the youth seemed aimless Simmons was the shining light on the score sheet with relieving regularity.
The NRL farewells one of its best flyers. Thanks, Dave!
