Sydney Roosters' halfback Mitchell Pearce is a late scratching from his side's clash with Penrith on Monday night due to a calf problem.

Ryan Matterson, not Jackson Hastings, has been called up to partner Connor Watson in the halves in what is now an all-rookie halves pairing. Grant Garvey has joined the bench.

Penrith prop Suaia Matagi has been left off the team sheet for the home team, with rookie Moses Leota to start and Jeremy Latimore added to the bench.
